Software Updates

Update policy

Mectura validates software updates against cabinet controls, drivers, themes, and supported hardware before recommending installation. A newer generic Batocera version is not automatically better for a configured cabinet.

When updates are available

Approved releases will be announced through Mectura support or the serialized Launch Portal. Notices will identify compatible models, required hardware, version, important changes, preparation, and recovery steps.

Backup recommendations

• Back up important in-game saves and save states.
• Record software version and changed settings.
• Keep the cabinet connected to reliable power.
• Do not update during storms or when power may be interrupted.
• Allow sufficient time and do not force shutdown.

Future USB updates

A future signed USB workflow may provide offline packages. Use only a Mectura-issued package and the designated USB port. The interface will verify compatibility before installation. This feature is not yet available unless support provides explicit instructions.

Future online updates

A future online workflow may download approved packages directly. It will display release notes, compatibility, progress, and restart requirements. Do not use Batocera's general channel unless Mectura confirms the release.

If an update is interrupted

Do not repeat power cycles. Record the exact screen and message, leave the cabinet off if instructed, and contact Mectura with the serial number and attempted version.
